For this assignment, I'd like you to find an example of an advertisement that you think is effective in garnering consumers' attention. I would like you to turn in some documentation about this advertisement (so don't just describe an ad you saw). For example you could:
-Tear out a print ad from a magazine or newspaper to turn in
- Print out an image of an ad that you have found online to turn in (e.g., a print ad, a billboard, other types of outdoor advertising, etc.)
- Include the link to a video advertisement
- Turn in a news story about an ad or ad campaign (either torn out of a magazine or printed from the web). This could be about any type of ad (e.g., print, outdoor, TV, etc.)
In addition to turning in the ad itself (or some documentation of it, as described above), I'd also like you to write a response (~ 1-2 pages double-spaced) explaining the following:
1) Why do you think this ad is effective at garnering attention? (Note that this is not the same thing as why the ad is a good ad or why it is effective at increasing sales).
- Does the advertisement capture voluntary or involuntary attention?
2) Do you think the advertisement will capture the attention of the marketer's intended target audience? Why or why not?
3) Will the intended target audience be properly exposed to this advertisement? Why or why not?
4) If you were a marketer behind this advertising campaign, would you do things differently or endorse the existing materials? Why?
This is an individual participation assignment worth 25 points. Please be sure to attach your response to your ad and to put your name on your assignment.
