1. Business, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Technology Education are the most common CTE programs in middle schools. Why do you think these programs are common in middle schools?

2. On the Virginia CTE website, select the link on the left menu for your specialty area (e.g., marketing, technology education). In the middle of each program page, there is an "Instructional Resources" section that contains a "Course Listing" as a Word document. Open and review that document. When you receive your teaching license, you will be eligible to teach all of these courses. What courses do you feel drawn to as a teacher? Why?

3. Select a course title or number from the "Course Listing" Word document for your specialty area (e.g., marketing, technology education). Go to the CTE Resource Center website, select the "Educators" link, and enter the course title or number in the search field. The state allows school divisions to run various links of courses (e.g., 6 weeks, 9 weeks, 36 weeks, etc.). Select one of the options and the course will open in Canvas. Review the material under "Modules" for this course. Explain how this material will/will not help you as a beginning teacher.

4. Review the state professional association for your specialty area (e.g., marketing, technology education). Explain the activities and resources provided by the association. How much is a student membership? Are you a member?
