Case: Ernie Sperling, a Roman Catholic, suffers from terminal cancer. His malignancy originated in his prostate gland and spread throughout his pelvis and into his vertebral column. Despite surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, the disease progressed. Mrs. Sperling had been separated from her husband for several years, but since his illness has visited him regularly. Mr. Sperling is often angry and uncooperative with the staff and his wife.
