Problem

The Olmec are also another Ancient Civilization and they are know as the 'Mother Culture'. Often MesoAmerican Tribes are not given credit for their accomplishments. Therefore, I want students to watch the attached film to learn more about the Olmec.

After you watch the film Olmec Heads please answer the following Questions:

I. Who are the Scientist/Explorers in the Film? What is their goal?

II. Do these Scientist/Explorers accomplish their goals? What are the reasons that they do or do not accomplish their goals?

III. What can be said about the assumptions that the Scientist/Explorers had about the Olmec people?

IV. Why do you think I had you watch this film? How does it relate to our course? What did you learn? How does the film connect to what was presented in our Textbook?

V. Find an image of an Olmec Head and paste it into the Discussion. Write a one paragraph summary of the image you picked. Where is it from? What can you tell me about the Olmec Head you choose (African Ancestry, Tools, etc.)
