In this discussion, we cover the direct precursors to psychology (psychophysics), the founding of psychology, and the development of structuralism and functionalism. Using the material in the textbook and at least two other sources (e.g., online library, book, or other online source), discuss developments leading toward the development of the field of psychology in Germany (e.g., Weber, Fechner, von Helmholtz, Wundt, or other theorist), structuralism (Wundt, Titchener), or functionalism (e.g., James, Münsterberg, Cattell, Calkins, Woolley, Hollinsworth, Hall, Dewey, Thorndike, Angell, Carr, Woodworth, Terman, Yerkes, Goddard, Witmer,Scott, or other theorist). During this period, we will see the explosion of different and diverse areas of psychology develop (e.g., clinical, industrial, educational, forensic, child and adolescent, animal and comparative, physiological, mental tests and intelligence, etc.).
