DQ1: The Cognitive Study of Religion (CSR)
Contains unread posts
The CSR approach, which emerged in the 1990s, seeks to address a specific set of concerns regarding the phenomenon of religion as it appears in the organ of the brain, prompting many thinkers to theorize around the question, "To what extent does homo sapiens have a natural inclination toward religion and what does the answer to that question do to religion's credibility?"
This line of inquiry has sparked a lot of intellectual creativity, especially in debates between atheistic and theistic thinkers (for example, see recommended videos: Sam Harris and Jordan Peterson Debate: Part I and Part II; moderated by Brett Weinstein).
Description
Craft a post in which you analyze the promises and problems of the CSR approach.
Why do you think, as Hedges mentioned, it has yet to be fully incorporated into the field of Religious Studies? Feel free to research beyond Hedges, Ch. 8, as you see fit and/or draw from other chapters.
