Question: Through this week's weekly reflection, I want to know whether or not you have understood the business communication genre called the business letter. I want you to understand not only the format of the letter but why you need to arrange content and format such letters a certain way. In 300 words or more, explain what constitutes successful persuasive messages and how successful business letters can be written to be persuasive. When you write about this, write about content, form (structure, organization) and the format of the business letter. The examples show you the format and certain organizations (you don't need to copy the format out in your relfection) but what could be the reason behind organizing a business letter this way? Why do we need to exhibit the date in a certain location? Why do business letters need to use concise language? Why do you need to say what the samples say right in the first paragraph (meaning what information does the writer need to convey right away in a business letter, what information can come in the middle and what are good ideas to end a business letter with)? How is a business letter different in terms of language and style from a narrative essay? You can speculate on these questions and others that you can think of in the reflection.
