Law enforcement officers are often the first people at the scene of horrific accidents. Crime Scene photos are taken to document the scene however, what happens when these photos are made public without authorization. As officers, we are held to a higher standard and expected to obey departmental policies.
In January 2020, LA Laker basketball star Kobe Bryant and his daughter were killed in a helicopter crash. Photos taken by Deputy Doug Johnson were disseminated. Vanessa Bryant Sued LA County Sheriffs office and won.
