Problem: Why do guns make the world different? Nicholas Kristof, a columnist for the New York Times, writes "Our Blind Spot About Guns," in which he compares guns to cars and says that regulation has made cars better, so guns should be regulated in the same way. Kristof says that fewer people will die from gun crime if the government rules guns the same way it does cars. Kristof is right that this should be more reason to control guns since not everyone is qualified to own one. I agree with him because not everyone will follow the rules for safety, which can lead to different consequences. According to his argument, many lives would be saved yearly if guns and their owners were subject to the same regulations as cars and their drivers.
