Question: Adam and Eve are planning their wedding for August of 2025. (Weddings have to be booked a few years out to get the best sites.) They have been negotiating a contract with Wedded Bliss, a banquet hall, to host their wedding. Wedded Bliss can only host one wedding per day. Adam and Eve expect 100 guests. Wedded Bliss has offered to cater the reception, including the food and open bar for a cost of $25 per guest. Wedded Bliss mails the proposed contract to Adam and Eve, who cross out the $25 amount and write in $20. They sign it and return it to Wedded Bliss. In the meantime, another couple come in to Wedded Bliss and agree to pay $30 per person to use the venue on the same day. Before the contract from Adam and Eve is returned, Wedded Bliss signs with the other couple. Discuss the result. Do Adam and Eve have a valid contract with Wedded Bliss? Why or why not?
