Create a response for the following: Reading the Gilgamesh epic has impacted my understanding of the flood account in Genesis by raising the question, "Were these really borrowed from another source?" but also, "Why did YHWH resort to wiping out the earth, if He knew problems would begin again?". I feel as though the Israelite authors wanted to highlight that YHWH was a merciful, forgiving God. He goes from wanting all of mankind wiped out, to showing Mercy to Noah because he was a righteous man. I wished the authors would have included YHWH's thoughts once He saw that problems were starting again.
