(C) Then discuss what we learned in class about World War II.

This should be more at least half of the paper.

At a minimum, it should be answering these questions, but be sure to give details and examples:

  1. Who were the Axis and Allied powers?
  2. Who was Adolf Hitler? Who were the Nazis?
  3. Why did Hitler's invasion of Poland trigger World War II?
  4. What was Vichy France?
  5. What was the Holocaust?
  6. What other countries were involved in World War II?
  7. Why did the United States join the war?
  8. How did the war end?
  9. How did the relationships between the Axis and Allied powers change after the war? (For example: Who were the new big powers? What was NATO and why was it created? What is meant by East Berlin and West Berlin?)

(D) Summarize with a final paragraph

FIRST, explain how the article you read is related to the class material. What connections can we make?

NEXT, conclude with a thoughtful opinion. You should give specific examples or reasons to back up your opinion.

For example,

  1. What can we learn today from studying World War II?
  2. What do you think about how relationships between countries can change under threat of war?
  3. Do you think NATO can prevent another world war today? Why or why not?
