Question: Megan works for a large government department. Once a year she visits all sections of the department to talk to the team members.

She makes a list of all the resources they would like to have allocated. One team frequently has to travel across the city and they put in a request for the use of a car.

There are no cars available for the team's use and a new car would have to be purchased. The cost of a vehicle was outside the range of the team's budget. The team wanted Megan to find the money for a car as they wasted too much time waiting for public transport.

Megan explained that she understood their problem and negotiated with the team. A decision was made to allow the team a certain number of taxi vouchers. Megan also helped the team to work out a long-term plan for acquiring a car.

Why did Megan have to negotiate with the team?

Because she could not give them what they wanted.
