You are a manager at Flancrest Enterprises, a company that produces high end car parts. You have an opening for a shift supervisor and many employees have applied. You have narrowed it down to two: Trisha and Sandy. Both are well-qualified for the position. Most of the time, the most senior qualified person applying for the job would receive the promotion. In this case, Sandy has been working for the company for 10 years while Trisha has only been working there for five.

As you are debating, Trisha comes to your office. She explains that she really needs this position as her husband is suffering from severe health issues and has been illegally terminated from his job. She needs the improved health insurance that comes with the supervisor role or her husband's medical care will bankrupt him. You do not have any additional information about Sandy--you just know she is qualified for the job and a reliable worker.
