The first session is a 500-word summary of your emerging understanding of the image of child as capable and competent with reference to major theories and contemporary within the context of early childhood education. You will need to reference at least 2 different sources (theory and/or literature).?
The second section is a table for observation and analysis. You are also expected to write an observation from the listed video and analyze how the example demonstrates children's capabilities and competence. Please use strength-based language in both the observation and analysis. Your observation and analysis should reflect your image of the child/children and how you understand them.

Collect Information - Observation
Briefly records evidence of a child (or group of children) engaged in an activity that demonstrates child learning.
Guiding question: What do you observe or notice ? Evidence of what the child: does, says, makes, writes, draws etc (descriptive)
Ues of descriptive evidence based language & strength based language.
Question and Analyse - Observation
Analyse the observation (descriptive information) to clarify children's strengthens, disposition for Learning, prior/existing knowledge & skills
Guiding questions: What, why and how children are learning from the observation? What do you understand about what you observed?
Reference to theories, academic literature and contemporary research.
