Write a six-paragraph essay elaborating on what choices you would make if you were asked to cast and stage your chosen dramatic monologue from the Play:
"A doll's House"
A. Introduction: Write a hook. Give an overview of the monologue. State what theme or themes you would intend to convey through casting, music, setting, and key lines.
B. Body paragraph 1: Who would you cast in the role and why? You may choose an actor of any age, gender, ethnicity, etc. (they don't have to match the casting of the play that the monologue comes from). They don't have to be alive today--you could pick one from the past.
C. Body paragraph 2: Choose a song that you would play while the audience is entering the theatre and waiting for the performance to begin. Explain why this song is an appropriate choice to set the mood.
D. Body paragraph 3: What setting would you choose for your monologue and how would it fit the theme(s)? Describe the setting and one or two props. (For example, the setting could be a cool fall day, with the actor on a park bench, accompanied by a bag of groceries and a newspaper.)
E. Body paragraph 4: Quote two key lines that you would ask the actor to say directly to the audience and explain why you would emphasize those lines.
F. Conclusion: In your conclusion, describe what thoughts or emotions you would want your audience to have after seeing your monologue.
