A multiple hurdle process that you went through is very common hiring practice and it does have an inherent long time frame from beginning to end. ????????I like? your recommendation about ways in which to improve the selection and hiring process. Organizations are doing more due diligence in deciding who would be the most suitable candidates for several reasons. One is the cost of making a bad hire. Second is the investment cost of employing a person can range with salary plus 40% of the salary for benefits/training/ and development. Third would be to have sufficient valid selection methods to defend against unlawful hiring. The challenge that you raise about the time frame for multiple hurdles which would have added the drug, background and reference checking for external applicants would extend the decision time frame. Is it worth it for the organization to go through the full multiple hurdle process with the risk of viable candidates losing interest in the position? Did you find the organizations that hired you used more subjective or objective information in their hiring decision? Any concerns about this? Did you feel you knew what the job entailed and what it would be like to work for this organization during the selection process? Any concerns here?
