Case Study: A regional chain of car dealerships has enjoyed success over its 40-year history. With 6 locations in 3 states, the company has grown to employ more than 100 people and boasts a vehicle inventory of over 500 units. The organization's dealerships collectively service an average of 1,500 cars each month, and parts sales are about 10,000 items monthly. Competition is growing from other dealerships in all markets where this chain operates. Although the company is doing well, it has always stuck to traditional car dealership activities and has never ventured too far into using technology to grow the business. Despite a robust data set generated by its thousands of monthly business transactions, the organization has never explored uses of data analytics, until now. Leadership has asked you to prepare a benefit-risk analysis for their consideration.
