This paper will look at the issue of child labor from Shultz's human capitol theory standpoint (using various examples and comparisons such as the idea of ‘stocks' and the farm example) considering whether or not using younger generation in various areas of work/labor is an "investment" (human capital theory approach).

1. Nutella child labor case
In 2019, a BBC investigation of Nutella's parent company unveiled that some of the hazelnut farms in Turkey used children for physical labor (e.g., hazelnut picking and loading goods). The vast majority of workers were Kurdish immigrants who do not have other working options. To top it all off, the company would pay their workers no more than $13 a day.
