Problem: First, I believe that a volunteer experience can open the door to future employment. The employer gets to know who you are and your work ethics without motivation of a salary. Thus, they get to know you as a person along. Likewise, the volunteer and truly figure out if what they are doing is something that they are called to do. Using the Career Services link in the GCU website, I can see that skill development tab would be beneficial for someone needing help with writing, math, and computer skills. For anyone that is stuck on what they should do next or what they can do with the degree that they felt passionate to learn, they can utilize the career resource tab. Then we must know how effectively and accurately make a resume and cover letter for the career that we desire to enter. Having a resume and cover letter ready at all times is important for those last-minute job opportunities. We will be better prepared to only have to make minimal changes for the job requirements. I am striving to have all of these in place by the completion of my program of study. Who knows what doors will open when we are ready and prepared for the future?
