You just got hired by Western Kentucky University as the Chief Marketing Officer. Part of your responsibilities is marketing the relatively new WKU esports team. Your boss (aka the president of WKU) wants you to increase the awareness of team around campus and within the Bowling Green community so that the team turns into a revenue source for the school. Your job is tocreate a marketing plan that will accomplish these goals by answering the following questions.
Step I: Remember we don't just create a marketing campaign to raise awareness and aim it everyone, we do a market segmentation and look at a few specific groups that we want to target. So, begin by discussing want specific segments of the market you want to go after.
Who is the advertisement going to target?
Step II: After you decide what market(s) you want to target, think of ways you can market to that/those individuals. Remember, you need to choose a method to get information in front of the people so that they will see it. So, using TikTok to market to the elderly would be bad because the elderly would never see the message.
Where are you going to post the advertisement?
Step III: Create a message that your target market will respond to. Think, "how can we get this group of people excited about WKU esports?" What type of messages, information, imagery, incentives, etc. would get the targeted group excited and drive them to "act"?
What "things" (e.g., imagery, messages, words, info, etc.) are you going to include in your advertisement to get your targeted group to respond/but tickets to come see the WKU esports team?
