Homework
Part I
Create a vision statement for yourself. Then write a short paragraph sharing your reason for this vision.
When done correctly, this statement should inspire you to be greater than you are now. Ask yourself, "Who will I become?" or "What is my purpose?" Once you have a solid foundation of self, think about your relationships with other people.
For the first part of this homework, think about who you can be in 10 to 20 years. Start with the phrase "To be. . ."
Your vision statement should:
1. Be brief (1-2 sentences).
2. Be clear.
3. Leave room for interpretation and imagination.
4. Be challenging.
5. Be future-oriented.
6. Think long-term.
Part II
Write a response for each of the questions below. Discuss how you can keep these relationships to grow as an ethical leader. Reflect on your values, vision, and the people in your life by asking yourself the following questions:
1. Who is critical to my leadership development, and to what extent?
2. Who sustains me, and to what extent?
3. Who challenges me in my decisions, and to what extent?
