CWA was established during the great depression in the United States to provide jobs for unemployed workers. It hired people from various backgrounds, including workers, immigrants, and African Americans, with the aim of providing relief to those hit the hardest by the economic downturn. While the CWA did provide employment opportunities for these groups, discrimination and unequal treatment were still prevalent, especially for African Americans who often faced segregation and lower wages compared to their white counterparts. Overall, the CWA's efforts were a step towards economic relief, but they didn't fully address the systemic inequalities faced by marginalized groups. Murphy (2020).

The fair labor standards act of 1938 established federal minimum wage, mandated overtime pay for certain workers, and set limits on child labor. While the FLSA was an important piece of legislation for improving labor conditions and protecting workers rights, it alone did not end the Great Depression or fully restore the economy. The FLSA played a role in providing stability and fairness in the labor market, which was crucial for long term economic recovery (Britannica Money, 2024).
