September 11th, Hurricane Katrina, Ebola, the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, and the Haiti earthquake are all examples of wild card events. These are just a few; there are many examples of wild card events in world history. How can you prepare for the unpredictable? Is it even possible to prepare for something of large magnitude? When you reflect on these events, was there anything you might have handled differently?

For this Group Wiki, reflect on the examples of wild card events depicted in the Learning Resources. Consider the elements of unpredictability that created the results of these events. Consider events in history you see as most unpredictable.

In the Group Wiki, write by Day 5 your description of events in history you think were the most unpredictable. Explain why. Explain whether leaders could have done anything to prepare for such an event. Why, or why not? For this Assignment, consider trends and driving forces. Explain which are the most important and likely to have the most impact, as well as which are the least predictable and would have the most negative impact on your organization.

Finally, stretch your imagination and build one wild card scenario that may impact your organization in 10 years by looking at the data and information on the organization's risks and vulnerabilities.
