This essay draws on chapters dealing with the years 1800 to the end of the book.

Word count: 1350-1950 words.

It is a requirement that you include primary sources. Use several. Primary sources are employed as examples of the points in the textbook.

You must cite often, paraphrasing the textbook and other sources as you do so. The same citation formatting as used before applies here. Limit quotes in length and frequency and only use them for primary sources.

The essay should use absolutely no content from outside our Canvas site or book. Any evidence of outside material, or of AI-generated content, will yield a score of zero.

This essay is untimed but will close at the moment it is due. You cannot navigate away from the essay page while it is in process or you will lose your work and your connection to Canvas. If you do that, your essay attempt will be lost. I will not reopen the exam. You are getting unlimited time to allow you to succeed, but you are to select a period when you are able to sit down and be with the exam without interruption, turning it in when you leave it.
