In Topic 5 you learnt about a virtual assessment task (Activity 2.2) that involved exploring a room and interacting with different stimuli. You also learnt how one of the cues was associated with the delivery of the reward but not the other. This question relates to your understanding of the activity and of the data derived from it. Please make sure that you have completed the activity before starting this question.
Note that for parts (a) and (b), your answers should be based on the 'Activity behaviour' table you received after taking part in the virtual assessment task, if this was possible. If you were unable to take part in the virtual assessment task, and you completed the alternative version, your answers should be based on the example table that you were provided with.
To demonstrate good academic practice, you should include citations and references for your sources of information in parts (c) and (d) of this question. You can provide references after each question part, or in one list at the end of all your answers to this question.
(a)
Copy and paste (i) the 'Activity behaviour' table from the virtual assessment task in Activity 2.2 and (ii) your answers to Questions 1 to 4 in Activity 2.2 into your TMA document. Thinking about the last question in Activity 2.2 - If a participant had not slept well during the night before undertaking the task, what impact might this have on their level of engagement?

100 words, excluding the 'Activity behaviour' table and the answers to the questions in Activity 2.2.
(b) Looking at the 'Activity behaviour' table that you copied into your answer for part (a), present a brief written description of the data, answering the following questions: Which stimuli were interacted with the most? Was attention orientated more towards the cue (CS+), the distractor (CS-), or the reward? Support your answer by describing the scores for the relevant variables shown in the table.
Note: Remember that there is not a correct or incorrect way to perform in the virtual room, so the marks will be assigned to the way that you have described the results shown in the table and not the content of the table itself.
Looking at the data sets for Participants A and B in Table 3, which set of results resembles the pattern of behaviour known as 'sign tracking'? And, which one would be more characteristic of 'intermediate' behaviour?
Support your answer by explaining what these two terms mean and by describing how the participants scored in the relevant variables.

Define Pavlovian conditioning using the virtual task as an example. Then define operant conditioning giving an example from the module materials. In your answer you need to explain clearly what the key difference between the two types of learning are.
