The international prestige of Italian cinema during its golden age largely derived, however, from what critics have termed 'art films' directed by Italy's major auteurs, filmmakers who began work in cinema during the neorealist era but whose artistic outlooks broadened and matured as they transcended their neorealist origins." Where can we see visual examples of the above-mentioned artistic origin in the neorealist movement of Fellini and Antonioni's filmmaking in La dolce vita and La notte?
