Question: An opaque website, like Hotwire, masks the name of the hotel until the booking is complete. This is done to protect the rate integrity of the hotel property. The advantage for the hotel is that they are able to fill rooms quickly without upsetting guests who have booking on their website. The disadvantage is that the property is competing with other hotels solely based on room rate which risks making the hotel a commodity. Would you recommend to use this type of website as a hotel manager? Why or why not?
