Case: Sean is a 30 year old Caucasian male. He has been seeking services because he reports feeling stressed at work and often experiences aggravation. This has led to some minor job performance issues. He begins today's meeting:
Sean: So, I'm on my way to work this morning, right? And obviously you know I'd been late a couple of times so I try to leave early and try to do what you said and do more planning. So, I get on the road early, I'm on the highway. I feel like today's going to be a great day like everything's on point. I get on the on-ramp and it's traffic on the on-ramp to get on the highway. The traffic is backed up for miles. It is crazy how much traffic there is.
So, I'm just sitting in traffic going two miles an hour and I'm trying to flip radio stations to figure out like why are we in traffic. This is a normal Monday, nothing's happening. Thinking it's an accident. I come to find out there's fifty people just walking across the middle of the highway in this downtown area to protest what's happening in another city somewhere else totally separate from what's happening here. So they're just blocking up the road, right? And I just don't get why these people would feel like this is the right way to protest something or make any kind of change to anything that's happening. Like why would you walk across a road?
I'm just trying to do the job, just get to work and we're going to block the road so that people like me can't do their job? It doesn't make any sense. Like this cop was just trying to defend himself and I get it. You know, like it's a young kid. We never want to see a young kid get hurt but like, this cop shot a guy who was charging him. Like how has this become this whole thing about race? I just don't understand. Like I don't understand why they're doing this.
So, these people just upset me so much and you know my temper. It just flares up so quick and like so I'm on my way to work and now I'm getting there but I'm two hours late and I'm just fuming. You know why I'm upset right? Like you can see how that would be upsetting me like you understand where I'm coming from. My argument makes sense, you can see it.
