Social media negatively impacts psychological well-being because being socially connected is important in everyday life. Though being connected through social media can be beneficial for your health it can also cause mental and emotional health problems. Everyone uses the internet in some way shape or form, for schooling, work, connecting with gaming, video, or the musical world of the internet. I feel it affects middle school through high school males and females more because of cyberbullying. As adolescents you are learning about yourself and who likes who, how you need to dress, what the new cute boy/girl is going to say to you today, and so forth. Once something is said on the internet there is no erasing it. It is another form of trying to get to another person as a way of hurting them. By invading the internet with hurtful words and slander you can hurt a person's mental, emotional, and even physical state because as a result, they tend to the bullying some results in suicide, changing a lot of people's lives. When it comes to teenagers 90% will not tell an adult about being bullied in fear their parents and or teachers will lack in helping with cyberbullying. The internet was created to spread news faster whether it was true or not.

I believe social media falls into self-care. Being able to take care of your mental, emotional, and physical state is extremely important to help out with social media influences. Being able to find a happy balance with how much time is spent on social media as a teenager is important for developmental growth and doesn't take away from the real world. Social media can come in handy when needing help with schoolwork, work or even looking for information you still at some point have to put the technological device down and get in touch with the real world to keep a healthy relationship for yourself. Social media can be entertaining and educational but sometimes there is darkness to it. To prevent suicide risks we have to be able to be open to talking about it with teenagers accept there is an issue and take the steps to help stop it.
