Start off reviewing the conclusion meanings on the Continuous Update Project website (UPDATED: See page 23, not page 6).

Next, open up the matrix by clicking on the link for your selected cancer site. First you'll select the site using the drop down menu. If there is more than one matrix, select one. For example, with breast cancer there's pre- and post- menopausal. Be sure to specify which you have selected. After you select on the drop down menu, you will see a matrix

Provide a summary of the evidence presented. Include the year this was last updated. Are there any factors with strong evidence? What about probable evidence? Many of these are nutrients or foods we've heard about in undergraduate courses, in the media, and from friends/family. We may even suggest these foods currently in our recommendations for a healthy diet. Which of those dietary components did you previously think had strong evidence for cancer prevention? Why might you have had this belief?

Next, click on the link above the matrix to read the full report on your selected cancer. What is/are the main recommendations? Summarize the evidence provided as support for that recommendation.

Lastly, select 2 nutrients or foods from the limited evidence section. Locate a recent study (within the last 5 years) on each of the nutrients or foods and its role in cancer (specific to your type) prevention. It is acceptable to choose from the reference list of the CUP report, however you may select one from your own outside research.

Summarize the studies. For each include mention of the study design/methodology, inclusion and exclusion criteria, geographic location, length of study, outcomes measured, and results. Make sure to include somewhere in your summary if it's limited- suggestive or limited- no conclusion. Despite limited evidence, after reading the study, would you recommend this as part of a diet aimed at reducing cancer risk? Why or why not?
