Discussion: There are many different versions of the intelligence cycle (or process) with steps that vary in number between 4 and 6. Which model do you think is most applicable to supporting the Homeland Security Enterprise? Substantively defend your choice. Describe interagency cooperation so important when it comes to (domestic) intelligence support to the Homeland Security Enterprise?
Response #1 (Andrew): Good Day Everyone,
This week's on the intelligence cycle, which model is most applicable to supporting the Homeland Security Enterprise. Then I will describe the interagency cooperation and its importance when it comes to domestic intelligence support to the Homeland Security Enterprise.
Firstly, which intelligence cycle model is most applicable to supporting the Homeland Security Enterprise. The seven step intelligence cycle of step one requirements, step two collection, step three processing and exploitation, step four analysis and production, step five dissemination, step six consumption, and step seven feedback(CENTER FOR HOMELAND DEFENSE AND SECURITY DEPT. OF NATIONAL SECURITY AFFAIRS NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL, The seven-step intelligence cycle). I think this is a more effective Homeland Security Enterprise because the additional steps of consumption and feedback as it provides communication back to personnel thats missing in many other intelligent cycle models. I also believe that it provides Homeland Security Intelligence a advantage with the first step of requirement because it provides guidelines and regulations to follow to have more fixed idea of what information will be able to be gathered.
Secondly, describing the interagency cooperation and its importance when it comes to domestic intelligence support to the Homeland Security Enterprise. The interagency cooperation is essential to better prepare for domestic terror threats and better sharing mechanisms enhances intelligence operations between agencies(Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General, Review of Domestic Sharing of Counterterrorism Information2017). I think having a coordinated approach to domestic intelligence deters adversaries from attacking on our soil because we don't want to be attacked like we were September 11th 2001. The many sharing councils work to provide a complete picture of the intelligence of any given potential threat to United States soil.
