Question: As a Nigerian from the South East consisting of mostly Igbos, as a tribe, we experienced a civil war between 1967 to 1970 which lead to the demise of over 3 million Indigenous people. My people were repressed and oppressed by being marginalized by the Nigerian government. Ever since then, the Indigenous igbos have not been able to fully integrate to the Nigerian system, as they have been excluded from alot of political appointments. The Niger delta Is one of Nigerias rich oil producing states which rightfully belongs to the Igbos, but the proceeds from the natural resource has been collected by the government over time. Tribalism and acts of physical violence has also been directed towards the Indigenous communities and visible minorities of Igbos by other Tribes. All these examples denotes how the Indigenous and visible minorities of my culture have been oppressed and discriminated against.
