Problem: A 35-year-old man with PMH of HTN is admitted to the primary care clinic with eye problems for the last 2 weeks. He stated that his left eye has felt itchy, swollen, and red for the last 2 weeks and has had a persistent purulent discharge that often causes his eyes to feel "glued" together when he wakes up. He denies any history of STDs or any recent sexual activity, stating that he and his wife have not made love for over a month. He is very concerned about the constant discharge and eye symptoms, and he wishes to get treatment for it. He denies vision problems. The patient's temperature = 98.3 degrees F, HR = 80, RR = 16, and BP = 130/90. Physical exam reveals pupillary reaction to light and accommodation. The eye is shown below.
