Problem: We had a lot of ethical issues come up during the pandemic Valerie and All. One of them was providing Telehealth services across state lines. Counselors are required to only practice within the state they are licensed in. This gets ethically sticky if care is established in one state but the client moves to another state. Licensure status applies to the state the client resides in, not the state the therapist resides in. Ethically and legally we are required to practice within the confines of our licensure status. However we are also required to do no harm to clients, provide continuity of care, and not abandon them. Which ethical stance should we take here Class?
