Disability Support Program:

The Ontario Disability Support Program helps people with disabilities who are in financial need pay for living expenses, like food and housing. It also provides some employment support to assist disabled people to prepare for and find work To be eligible for the program, one must be 18 years old, be an Ontario resident, be in financial need, and meet the program's definition of a disabled person. A disabled person is defined as someone who has a substantial mental or physical impairment that is continuous or recurrent and is expected to last one year or more. The impairment directly results in a substantial restriction in the person's ability to work, care for oneself, or take part in community life. The impairment and its restrictions have been verified by an approved healthcare practitioner (eg. physician). If one's application is approved, one will receive between $1,169 / month (single person) to $2,126 / month for a couple + child. Recipients must provide information about their income on a regular basis to their ODSP worker.
