I. We know that all forms of nonverbal communication work together with one another; however, some forms of nonverbal communication tend to be more powerful than others. Which do you believe is your most powerful nonverbal: illustrators, emblems, tone of voice, facial expressions, eye contact, or silence? Identify a time when you were able to use this powerful nonverbal to achieve a specific communication goal you had.
II. Conversely, which of the forms of nonverbal communication (illustrators, emblems, tone of voice, facial expressions, eye contact, or silence) is your biggest weakness? Identify a time when you struggled to control this nonverbal in trying to achieve a specific communication goal you had.
III. In your own opinion, of the types of nonverbal communication discussed at the end of the lecture (kinesics, vocalists, haptics, proxemics, chronemics), which type of nonverbal communication should people learn to manage more competently? Identify and explain a time when you have personally witnessed others struggle to communicate competently due to lacking skills in that type of nonverbal communication.
