Assignment:
Read the vignette and answer the following.
Jeffery is 14 years old and has relocated to New Orleans from Alabama with his 28-year-old mother, Alice. Alice and Jeffery will be residing with Alice's maternal grandparents Wilma and Fred. Alice and Jeffery have relocated due to fleeing an abusive relationship. Alice's husband / Jeffery's biological father is a 50-year-old ETOH abuser. After being in his new school for 3 weeks, the school SW has contacted Alice advising that Jeffery has been suspended for having 6 fights within this 3-week period. The last fight included a severe physical attack against a girl in Jeffery's class; therefore, law enforcement is now involved. The school SW has concurrently referred this family to you for assistance as they do not have the manpower to assist this family. You are the social work student interventionist contracted by the school district.
1. Who is your client? Why? Under which circumstances may the positionality of "client" change?
2. What is the presenting problem?
3. Considering the family's situation; hypothetically, what is 1 automatic thought (AT) / 1 Conditional Assumption / 1 Schema / Cognitive Error for the child that may sustain the presenting problem? How will you test this hypothesis?
4. Your agency solely utilizes the intervention of CBT; therefore, which theory will you be most attentive to?
5. What are two plausible assessment questions that you may formulate as it relates to your theory and hypothesis?
6. What are two outcomes that you will document in the treatment plan?
7. What are other SW considerations?
8. Identify 1 plausible intervention.
