Mental Health in the Movies
Popular culture often dramatizes mental illness in various ways to further a narrative. Below is a list of movies that demonstrate, to one form or another, various mental disorders. Some get it right and some get it very wrong. Pick one and answer the following questions in your initial post.
1 - Which character demonstrated what mental disorder?
2 - How accurate do you feel they were in their portrayal of that disorder and why? (You might need to do some outside research here)
3 - Were there any effective or ineffective coping methods/skills displayed?
4 - If they were accurate in portraying the mental illness what stood out to you the most? If they were not then what was wrong with the portrayal?
After you have made your own initial post reply to two or more posts of your fellow classmates. In your reply state whether you agree or disagree and why.
Please be advised that some of these films are definitely not for children and rated R due to very mature content.
