A 33-year-old woman with a history of schizoaffective disorder, depressive type is admitted to the hospital for a suicidal attempt via cutting her wrist. The patient reports auditory hallucinations telling her to kill herself and that she is worthless. Her previous medication trials include aripiprazole, risperidone, and quetiapine. Another antipsychotic is added to her regimen to reduce her suicidal ideation. After two weeks, her complete blood count (CBC) shows an absolute neutrophil count (ANC) of 1829/microliter.
