Question: I do believe the Four Noble Truths can be considered universal. I have indeed realized that suffering is an inevitable facet of life. No matter what way you turn or what actions you take, you will face suffering. I also agree with the second truth which essentially states we suffer because of our illusions and ignorance about the world. I have often had beliefs or illusions about the world and I have been "rudely awakened." This is often something that has happened as I have transitioned from childhood to adulthood. I have often attempted to accept these new truths and seek peace despite that, which illustrates the third truth. Finally, I feel that I have taken actions in a "path-like" manner that roughly illustrates the fourth truth. I feel that practicing morality makes me feel good about myself and increases enlightenment, which reduces some of my suffering. I also believe that concentration on the things that matter, namely the things I can control, allows me to gain wisdom on the difference between the things I can and cannot control, which allows me to have better determination over my life. Finally, the wisdom of self and wisdom of the world increase enlightenment, encourage peace, and reduce suffering.
