Question

Systematic reviews, which aim to synthesize all available evidence on a topic, frequently include qualitative and quantitative research to inform evidence-based practice (Siddaway et al., 2019). Established frameworks, such as the Joanna Briggs methodology, provide approaches for conducting mixed methods systematic reviews. These involve systematically searching for both studies, critically appraising their quality using appropriate tools and analyzing and integrating qualitative and quantitative findings. For example, a mixed methods systematic review on barriers and facilitators to antipsychotic adherence among people with schizophrenia could statistically pool quantitative studies reporting adherence rates and associated factors while also thematically synthesizing qualitative studies describing patient and provider perspectives. This would provide a robust, multifaceted intervention development and clinical decision-making evidence base. Share an insight from having read your colleague's posting, synthesizing the information to provide new perspectives.
