They receive orders for kites from a number of wholesale clients, and Discrete Kite must maintain track of these transactions. They specifically need to know who ordered, when, how many kites of each type were ordered, and the type of delivery (e.g., ground shipping, overnight). Owner of the business Ina Cloud lets her clients change the designs on the kites. Nevertheless, this customization raises the cost of the kite by 10%. In order to manage client expectations at the time of the order, it is crucial to know how many kites of each type the business has on hand.

Discrete Kite also aims to better manage their spending in order to boost earnings. For their raw supplies, they work with a number of authorized vendors (e.g., wood, string, paper, paint, glue). They must maintain track of their purchase orders as well as the costs that various suppliers impose on their goods. Discrete Kite is a small manufacturing business, so Ina handles these purchasing orders individually.
