Case Study: Nova has been contacted by the store about a robbery that occurred. Apparently, someone came into the store on Saturday and demanded the customer service representative, Doris, give them all of the money in the cash register. The customer service representative was working alone at the time and was very shaken by the incident. The police have been called and have interviewed Doris, they have determined that it was a random act and are looking for the robber.
Doris has filed a WorkSafeBC claim as she does not feel safe and is suffering since the robbery. Nova is upset that a claim has been filed as it is more paperwork and Doris wasn't physically injured so would like to ask Doris to withdraw her claim.Nova has heard that a union is trying to certify at Jo's Jogging Emporium and thinks it may be the end of the business - she thinks unions are too expensive for a little store and is worried the store will have to close. One of her shift supervisors, Mark, has let her know that 50% of employees have signed membership cards and has suggested that Nova act quickly to ensure the union does not certify. Mark has suggested that Nova raise wages to $19/hr for customer service reps and that the Employer offer to pay for 100% of the health benefits for all employees (instead of their current 75% Employer paid benefits).
