When glucose enters your cells via the Glucose Transporter, (GLUT1), it is immediately phosphorylated to form glucose 6-phosphate. This reaction is catalyzed by an enzyme called hexakinase and uses ATP as a substate.

Write the mechanism for the uncatalyzed reaction (based on what you might predict from organic chemistry) for the reaction of glucose with ATP to produce glucose-6-phosphate and ADP. Use abbreviated structures as needed.
