Case Study: Adolescence is a crucial stage in life where important developments occur such as becoming more self-reliant, discovering personal interests, making positive social connections, gaining valuable life and work skills, and pursuing further education or employment. (Clayborne et al., 2020) However, because this is a vulnerable period, depression and anxiety can also occur. Biological factors such as increased cortisol reactivity, genetic predisposition, and imbalances in certain neurotransmitters can contribute to depression and anxiety. (Stretton et al., 2021) Psychological factors such as high neuroticism and low self-esteem, as well as adverse childhood experiences and limited social support, can also play a role. (Josey, 2016) From a (CRSJ) perspective, adolescents from marginalized communities may face additional challenges due to systemic oppression, such as discrimination and limited access to resources.

Question: When evaluating and treating mental health issues in adolescents, it's important to consider all of these factors, including cultural influences. The process involves diagnostic, clinical, cultural, and treatment formulation, and it's essential to ask questions such as "What happened?", "Why did it happen?", "What role does culture play?", and "How can it be changed?" to guide the evaluation and treatment process.
