Assignment - Pluralism Discussion
Description - Watch the two videos:
1. "Is Pluralism Always Good?"
2. "Vince Vitale: Pluralism - A Culture without Truth"
Navigate to the threaded discussion as you consider your role in advocating for people this week answer the following questions in response to this week's scripture passages.
Based on the video material, describe your thoughts regarding the idea that there are good and bad approaches to pluralism.
When do you think pluralism can be good, and when can it be bad? Give examples from real life if you can and support your position with critical thinking.
Based on the video, describe what happens when you overemphasize either truth or love in working with others? How can you work with others as a Christian without giving up either one?
In the Video, Vince states that "every other worldview (except Christianity) makes a choice between truth and love". Either ignoring or downplaying sin or demanding compliance with laws or beliefs. Which do you tend to emphasize more in your work with others, truth or love? For example do you tend to avoid leading others toward truth that will help them in favor of being nice and avoiding conflict or do you tend to more quickly point out problems or issues? Explain your thoughts.
Read the scripture again for this week, where Jesus is speaking to the woman at the well. Is Jesus "imposing his beliefs" on the woman? Discuss your thoughts and explain how this scripture passage might help you in thinking about how to approach working with diverse clients while holding to the truth. Identify one or more things Jesus does that would help and how you could do the same.
