Write a short memoir, thinking about your own experiences with your selected word. Memoirs are first-person accounts written in narrative form that present a descriptive account of people's experiences (See our readings from Stamper here, as each chapter is written as a memoir).

As you develop your memoir, think about the following questions:

When did you first hear your word? For example, did you first hear this word as a child? Did you know what it meant when you heard it?

If you have used this word, why did you use it? In what context? Toward whom? Or have you used the word in multiple ways (perhaps both positively and negatively?)

You can also think about the word's impact on other people. Does the word glorify some while victimizing others? In other words, what weight does this word carry?

What does the use of this word say about a person's beliefs? If I were to use your word, what would you guess or assume about my beliefs?
