Researching

One of the key concepts we are interested in applying in this course is "close reading." I assume this term is new to you. I want you to research it. That is, go online and look for useful information on the term "close reading." From your research, summarize in not more than five sentences what you understand this concept to mean

Writing

My assumption is that you have some understanding - however tentative - of what this course (ENGL 1400) is about before/after you registered for it. I want you to take some time to think and identify what your learning goals in this course are. I am asking you to identify and list what you seek to gain from being in this course and how best you think you can realize those objectives

Reading and Summary

Read pages 1-3 of R. S. Gwynn's Literature: A Pocket Anthology. Read and summarize in three sentences the main ideas of this piece of writing. I have uploaded a scanned copy of this reading on the Moodle so that no one has any excuse about not having access to the material because they are yet to get their copy of the anthology.
