Assignment: The Criminal Justice System
Part 1:
Complete a QQCR post (Question, Quote, Comment, Respond). The goal of the QQCR is to engage with each other about questions you have, connections you're making between material and lectures, and ideas you find interesting and important. Each QQCR requires at least one initial post (about a Core Reading). Core readings for the first post are: Turney and Wakefield 2019. Criminal Justice Contact and Inequality ; Why California Wants to Recall Its Most Progressive Prosecutors - The Atlantic. (See attached)
Question: Identify and discuss a question that remains after reading, watching, and/or listening to the course materials. What is one thing that remains confusing or that you would like to learn more about?
Quote: Identify and discuss one quote or big idea that especially stood out to you from the course materials. Be sure to cite the author's name to receive credit.
Comment: In at least one fully developed paragraph, reflect and comment on what you learned by informally journaling about the required readings, videos, and/or podcasts. For example, you may wish to reflect on one of the following prompts:
Question A. Why does the quote you mentioned above stand out?
Question B. How does the material relate to or contradict with what you thought about the topic beforehand?
Question C. How does it connect to your own life?
Question D. How are you going to carry what you learned forward in your day-to-day life?
Part 2:
Respond to each of the following prompts:
Question A. Identify a single issue covered this week (i.e., theory, concept, idea). How would you describe this issue to a friend in a casual conversation? (3-5 sentences) (See attached part II materials)
Question B. Write a short paragraph about how you do or do not relate to it (3-5 sentences).
Question C. Do you think that how you relate to it is or is not generalizable to other people's experiences? Why/why not? (3-5 sentences).
